November- doctors’ availability

Updating you for November:

Dr John is away for the first week of November, back on 11 November. From that week he will start working 2 extra sessions – Tuesday and Friday afternoons.

Dr Chris Ganora is working in John’s place this week on Monday and Thursday.

Dr Annabel is working the next two weeks and then away from 16 November until 3 December.

Dr Catherine Pratten will be working Tuesdays and Fridays while Annabel is away.

Everyone else will be working their usual hours for all of November.

Remember you can book online via the website or the Appointuit app. Ring the practice if you are having trouble finding the appointment you would like, or if you need an urgent appointment on the day.

Another new GP

A major reason for our move up the road was to have more space for more doctors to work and open up more appointment times for patients. This week we welcome Dr John Kevin to Erskineville Doctors. John completed his medical studies in Tasmania in 2014 and subsequently worked as a doctor at Royal Hobart Hospital and St George Hospital.  He has undertaken his GP training in Sydney. He holds a Diploma in Child Health and enjoys the variety offered by general practice. John has a keen interest in musculo-skeletal medicine, men’s health, PrEP prescribing. John enjoys playing sport, in particular playing rugby competitively.

John works on Mondays and Thursdays.

Doctors on leave – October

There’s a bit of movement this month coming up, with school holidays, annual leave and conferences. If you need to see a doctor other than your usual one please be assured we can hand over care on their return.

Week beginning 30 Sept: Dr Patti and Dr Annabel away

Week beginning 7 October: Monday public holiday and Dr Jenny and Dr Patti away

Week beginning  14 October: Dr Patti away

Week beginning 21 October: Dr Patti back to work on Wednesday 23 October, Dr Annabel away all week, Dr Jenny off on Thursday only

Week beginning 28 October:  Dr John away (back on 11 November)

While our doctors are on leave they will be covered by locum doctors on some days. We welcome back Dr Catherine Pratten and Dr Chris Ganora, who will both be filling some days between now and Xmas time.

Dr Catherine has worked in general practice for many years, and also works at Family Planning NSW, so she is well versed in all things womens’ health and sexual health.

Dr Chris worked at Erskineville Doctors from 2016-2018. He has an interest in mental health and lifestyle changes/preventative health.

Introducing a new GP

We are pleased to introduce Dr Wee-Sian Woon, who has just joined the practice. Wee-Sian completed his medical degree in 2012 in Queensland. He has worked as a GP in Canberra, Alice Springs, Perth and Taree. During 2018, he worked in an inner Sydney Sexual Health clinic. He has a Diploma in Child’s Health and is a HIV s100 and Hepatitis B prescriber. He has interests and experience in all areas of general practice, particularly in Men’s health, Sexual health, PrEP prescribing, Paediatrics and Travel medicine. Wee-Sian will be working at Erskineville Doctors on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Erskineville Doctors has moved

Erskineville Doctors has just moved to 15-19 Erskineville Rd, right next to Woolworths and Toni&Guy hairdressers. The new space has extra consulting rooms and a larger area for the nurses to work in. We hope our patients will like it too!

We are open again for appointments from Tuesday 18 June.

Staff changes

It feels like both good news and bad news – exciting times for some of our clinical staff, but we will miss them in the meantime.

Dr Shereena has taken maternity leave from 18 May for 12 months until April/May next year. We wish her well at this exciting time, and are waiting to hear her news!

On the upside for the practice and our patients, we are pleased to announce that Dr Nicolette Holly is now a permanent member of our practice team. Many of you will have met Nicolette as she has filled in for our doctors on leave. She is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Our Practice Nurse, Catherine, will also be taking maternity leave from late June, so we have her for a while longer. We have had to replace her wtih three nurses! You will have started to meet them as they transition in to take over Cath’s role. Ping will be working on Mondays, Georgia on Tuesday and Wednesday and Amy on Thursday and Friday. This gives us extra nurse hours as we will have someone on every day to assist our doctors and patients.

Watch this space, as we will have more news about extra doctors when we move to our new location.

Easter Break

Hope you all have a lovely Easter and enjoy some sunshine wherever you are.

We are closed over the 4 days of the long weekend, and then again on Anzac Day. Given this, you will find we are quite booked up if you go to book online. Please call during the week early if you are concerned about an urgent medical problem.

As always you can call the locum after hours or attend Emergency at RPAH, Sydney Children’s, Balmain or Canterbury Hospitals.

Dr Jenny is back on Tuesday. Dr Annabel and Dr Cara both away next week and then back on the week beginning 29th April. Our nurse, Catherine is also away next week.
